CTECS has validated numerous federal and state agency CTE programs (44 member states since inception!) to promote the systematic research, development, and implementation of competency- based instruction. CTECS is a not-for- profit company that operates a consortium of states for which members pool efforts to develop competency-based career and technical education resources that are validated by business, industry, and labor.

Our Mission

CTECS provides industry-based resources and services for the improvement of career technical education and workforce development instruction, assessment, certification, and delivery.

The Assessment

This is the best test available to measure a student’s awareness of essential workplace expectations. Primarily the test is taken by secondary students. Middle school initiatives are underway.

The Package

The WRS Assessment offers additional features, including free curriculum modules, instant reporting, data collection, and a WRS digital badge and credential.

Validated

The WRS Assessment was launched in 2011, based on a skills list that was validated by the research group at the Weldon Cooper Center, University of Virginia.

Current Users

The WRS Assessment has continued to evolve and was adopted quickly by other members of our consortium, including Nevada, Idaho, and Maine. New testing is underway in California.

Assessment Model

The WRS Assessment follows a rigorous methodology and a company philosophy of “Adopt, Adapt, Develop” to produce the very best assessment.
