Test Characteristics
The Lay of the Land
It’s a good idea to give your students an idea of the test before they take it. This can improve scores enormously.
Workplace Readiness Skills (Post-Test)
- 100 multiple-choice questions, 4 options each, doubly randomized (in sequence of questions and sequence of answers)
- Timed, 1-hour
- Accommodations (e.g., extra time) offered for students identified as SWD or LEP
- Answer one question per screen, auto save after 2-4 answers
- Calculator supplied
- Audio optional for SWD and LEP
- Other forms: Pre-Test, up to two retakes in some states
California Career Ready Assessment (in pilot)
These tests are currently in pilot and do not offer the audio option.
California Middle School Career Ready Assessment
- 60 multiple-choice questions, 5 questions per standard
- 60 minutes, timed, online only
- Accommodations available (for students identified as SWD and LEP)
- Calculator provided inside the test window
California High School Career Ready Assessment
- 100 multiple-choice questions, four standards with 9 questions each, six with 8 questions
- 60 minutes, timed, online only
- Accommodations available (for students identified as SWD and LEP)
- Calculator provided inside the test window
